The inland charge of "4" pence is endorsed on the front. Covers with stamps cancelled with british numeral cancellations are rare.

The postage was made up of 35 skilling letter-rate and 14 skilling for the registration. An excellent international exhiobition item.

Here represented by two beautiful cover fronts sent from Bergen to France in 1859 and 1863. Both with postage due marking "12" decimes of which 6 decimes were credited to the Netherlands. The latest one with endorsement "pr. Anna".

* 3 skilling Oscar together with a horizontal strip of six of 8 skilling Coat of Arms 1863 cancelled "Holmestrand 26.8.1864" making the 51 skilling rate for a cover sent to New York, U.S.A. The cover is cancelled "Aachen 31.8. paid 23 Cts" in red. This was combined rate for the Prussian inland, Belgian and British transit and the Sea and was divided in accordance to the convention. A fantastic item in superb quality, and surely one of the most spectacular covers from Norway to U.S.A from the skilling period. A highlight in every Norway collection. Certificate: F.C.
