The Famous "RE-ROUTED" cover
Beatiful horizontal strip of six of 4 skilling Coat of Arms 1855 with grid cancellations making the 24 skilling rate on a cover sent to Neapel, Italy. This letter should have been forwarded with S/S "Bergen" on its route to Hamburg on September 15th 1855, but due to the collision between S/S "Norge" and S/S "Bergen" on the night of September 10th 1855 it was impossible to send covers directly to Hamburg. For this reason this cover was sent via Svinesund, and postage markings indicates that Norway had to give away the whole collected postage to Sweden and Germany. A very interesting postal history and ship-mail item. Certificate: F.C.Moldenhauer.
