According to the expert Finn Aunes calculations the postage should have been 108 skilling, so stamps amounting 25 skilling are missing. However, no signs of missing stamps are vissible. Two 8 skilling stamps are folded around the edge of the envelope. This is the highest recorded postage to the U.S. from the Oscar per iod. The cover has several transit markings and has arrival mark "New York DEC 31 1857". A superb international exhibition item. Certificate: F.C.Moldenhauer.

The postage should have been 51 skilling, but as the 3 skilling Oscar was not issued in April 1857, the cover was bound to be overfranked by 1 skilling. This is the earliest recorded adheshive cover adressed to North America. A superb international exhibition item.

The cover has not been received in New York by the addressee and is therefore returned to Norway, and has a flora of transitt markings on the front and on the reverse. The left stamp has some missing perfs, and has been removed and then put back again. This postage was in use from 1.7.1858 until 13.3.1863. A unique and very interesting exhibition item.
