* 3 skilling Oscar - a beautiful strip of five where each stamp is nicely cancelled with 11-bar grid cancellation making the 15 skilling rate for a cover sent from Drammen via "Sandøsund 25.8.1857" and "Frederikshavn 26.8.1857" to Hjørring, Denmark. The cover is a little restored and the stamps are somewhat faded, but this is of little importance on this exceptional item. Certificate: F.C.Moldenhauer.

The stamps are cancelled "Hølen 31.12.1858". However, because of reasonable winter conditions this cover has not been sent via Sweden - even though paid the rate for this route - and is transitt-marked "Sandøsund 1.1.1859" on reverse. Rare and extremely beautiful exhibition item.
